Christ’s Church
Why the church of Christ? In Matthew 16:18 Jesus said He would build His church. Jesus had established only one church as shown in Ephesians 4:4-6, with only one doctrine ( faith, hope, baptism) to go with it. With one body, (the church), their can only be one leader, Christ the head of the church (Colossians 1:18) making us Christ’s church, the church of Christ (Romans 16:16).
Simply Christians
Though there is only one body (church) there are many members individually 1 Corinthians 12:12-27. So what name do we use on an individual basis? In 1 Peter 2:21-24, it tells us to follow in the footsteps of Christ. And those who do are called christians 1 Peter 4:16. To be a christian is to take Christ’s teachings and make them your own and to strive to be Christ-like just as those in Acts 11:26. We are simply followers of Christ that do not add to his word (1 Corinthians 4:5), but do all in His name Colossians 3:17.
How Do I Become A Christian / Member of Christ’s Church
Only one can add you to the Lord’s church. In Acts 2:47, we see that the Lord adds to His church those who are being saved. So the real question is what shall I do as was asked in Acts 2:37-38 and Peter answered “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins”. Studying the bible we see there are a few steps to go with Peters answers and they are;
Hear - Romans 10:17, Luke 6:47
Believe - Hebrews 11:6, Mark 16:16
Repent - Luke 13:3, Acts 17:30
Confess - Roman 10:8-9, Acts 8:37
Baptized - 1 Peter 3:21, Romans 6:3-4
Remaining Faithful - Revelation 2:10, Matthew 10:22
We hope and pray that this has been helpful to you. If you are to have any questions or wish to study some more please contact us in the method that works for you best, (email, phone, or snail mail) of course, we would over-joyed if you visited with us at worship.
